Welcome to West End Middle School

West End is a public middle school with an enrollment of approximately 450 students in grades 5 through 8. The campus is conveniently located on the west side of Nashville near Vanderbilt University. The three-story main building, built in 1937 to house West End High School, is a Nashville landmark and recently underwent a $7.5 million renovation. Thirteen-acre Elmington Park serves as the school's front lawn and provides numerous recreational and educational opportunities for students.

To better prepare our students for life and work in a rapidly globalizing world, West End became an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in 2009. The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), designed specifically for younger adolescents, emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world and to become critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP also fosters the development of 21st-century skills, such as communication, intercultural understanding, and global awareness.

After completing the final two years of the MYP at Hillsboro High School, students are well positioned to succeed in the IB Diploma Programme, a comprehensive and academically rigorous program of study and assessment that is recognized worldwide as a important measure of college readiness.
