Parent-School Compact
2009-10

The students, faculty, staff, parents, and community of West End IB World School will work together to provide a positive learning environment. Every stakeholder has a part in our school’s success. It is our responsibility to fulfill the following expectations to maximize the educational potential of our future leaders of the world.

West End faculty and staff members promise to:

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for learning
  • Provide a quality education to all students
  • Communicate with parents
  • Show respect for students, parents, the community, and all staff members
  • Arrive to school on time and prepared to teach to the best of his/her ability
  • Provide appropriate homework for skill reinforcement
  • Provide a parent/teacher conference schedule annually
  • Take advantage of professional development opportunities
  • Update his/her online grade book regularly
  • Encourage family/community involvement and parent volunteers

West End parent/guardian(s) promise to:

  • Ensure your child attends school regularly and arrives on time daily
  • Encourage your child to learn and help him/her with daily homework
  • Review and sign child’s agenda
  • Attend parent conferences and communicate with your child’s teachers via phone, email, written communication, or in person.
  • Show respect for your child, the teachers, the staff, and the school community
  • Encourage your child to solve problems in a positive manner
  • Read to your child and listen to your child read regularly
  • Notify the school of address, phone, and other important changes
  • Be active with the PTSO and/or other school events

West End students promise to:

  • Attend school regularly and arrive to class on time daily
  • Always do his/her best work
  • Obey the school code of conduct and classroom rules
  • Show respect for yourself, the WEMS faculty and staff, and the school community
  • Participate in community and service activities
  • Participate in an additional ninety minutes of physical activity each week
  • Solve problems in a positive way and seek assistance from WEMS faculty when needed
